Houston –Partners at Hoover Slovacek LLP announced that three new attorneys have joined the firm, Courtney Palm, Cynthia Pickett and Houston City Councilman Greg Travis.
“These diligent and intelligent attorneys have proven records and are leaders in their fields,” said Senior Partner Joseph O. Slovacek. “We look forward to seeing all they will accomplish as members of our firm and we know they will be assets to our already talented team. As HooverSlovacek continues to grow, it is our goal to recruit great talent in this region so we can continue to offer our clients the best possible representation.”
“I am pleased to join a firm with such an outstanding reputation for serving its clients and leading in the community as well as the courtroom,” said City Councilman Greg Travis. “HooverSlovacek is a place where I feel I can build on my goals to vigorously serve my clients with integrity.”
Gregory R. Travis is a trial lawyer with over twenty-five years of experience. He has first chaired an array of civil cases in various venues. He has represented and litigated on behalf of Fortune 500 Companies, construction firms, architectural and engineering groups, hospitals and doctor’s groups and more. In 2015, Mr. Travis was elected to serve District G on the Houston City Council. Greg firmly believes that as a Houston City Council Member, he is first and foremost a public servant.
“Greg is an excellent attorney who has never lost a trial in his 25 years of practice. He has proven himself to be a creative, thoughtful leader during his first year on the Houston City Council,” said Senior Partner Joseph O. Slovacek.
Mr. Travis joins Representative Mike Schofield in the ranks of distinguished, elected leaders on the HooverSlovacek roster. Mike Schofield, representing Texas House District 132, serves as Senior Counsel at HooverSlovacek.
Cynthia Pickett joins the firm as a Partner with over 36 years of litigation and transactional legal experience. Her primary practice areas are oil and gas, real estate, manufacturing, construction, leasing, business mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, choice of business entity structure, formation, day-to-day operating and employment contracts.
“Cynthia has a keen understanding and grasp of legal as well as business issues, with a wealth of quality experience handling both litigation and transactional matters,” said Partner Greg Savage. “ She is a shrewd and skilled tactician, always displaying the level of care and empathy that is needed to properly guide her clients through the myriad complex issues they face and protect their best interests.”
Courtney Palm also joins the firm as Senior Counsel in the litigation section with a focus on commercial litigation, employment, construction, and personal injury defense.
“Courtney Palm is an experienced litigator who has handled all aspects of civil litigation with an emphasis on business torts, construction, product liability, landlord-tenant disputes, contract disputes, lien law, personal injury defense, and employment law,” said HooverSlovacek Partner Dylan Russell. “Courtney has successfully prosecuted cases and defended her clients in courtrooms and arbitrations throughout Texas. In addition, she works with clients to plan for and prevent potential litigation. Not surprisingly, Courtney was selected as a Rising Star for five years in a row and was also named as a Super Lawyer in Texas Monthly magazine since 2013.
